At the first light of dawn yesterday, a man, armed with a large knife and with his face distorted by a carnival mask, broke into a fuel depot in Via Siracusa, took possession of about 700 euros and disappeared. The agents of the Avola Police Commissioner, promptly arrived at the place of the robbery, began immediate investigations made complicated by the circumstance that the robber was not immediately recognizable because, during all phases of the robbery, he used the mask. The policemen were able to recognize the robber from his body features and movements. A 32-year-old, close to local criminal circles, was thus denounced. In the countryside not far from the place of the robbery, the clothes and the knife were found, and at the suspect's home other clothes that the man wore during the robbery were seized.
