Palermo and its province are once again being devastated by fires, with over 40 fire department interventions and numerous calls for help. Vegetation and brush fires have spread across the entire province due to the high temperatures and strong winds. Additional firefighting teams have been brought in from neighboring areas to help battle the blazes. The president of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, personally visited the firefighting command center to monitor the situation in realude for the efforts being made. The fires have led to the closure of schools in some areas, and the Bishop of
Cefalù, Giuseppe Marciante, expressed his solidarity and offered prayers for the affected communities. He also called for a general protest against the inaction of regional governments in addressing the recurring fire problem.
