Mario Genovese, a renowned restaurateur from Messina, has passed away. His restaurant, “Lungomare Da Mario,” was a popular dining spot for locals and tourists alike. Over the years, many celebrities and politicians frequented the establishment. The restaurant, which was closed in 2018, was known for its traditional culinary offerings. Genovese attributed the closure to the construction of a tram line, which he claimed had damaged his business. Upon hearing the news of his death, many people expressed their condolences and shared fond memories of dining at his restaurant. Genovese was also the president of the Milan Club Messina ’85 and was known for his generosity. Maurizio Presente, a local DJ, praised Genovese’s hard work and professionalism and described the restaurant as a well-known landmark in the city. The funeral will be held on Monday, August 28th, at the San Giuliano church in Messina.
