Yusupha and Bubacarr, both 23 years old and born in Gambia, arrived in Italy between 2016 and 2017. They left behind a difficult childhood in the smallest and poorest country in Africa to seek a safe haven in Palermo. Their story was the focus of a meeting at the Fiaba school in Palermo, attended by the school’s principal, Roberta Morici, the fifthhout Borders, also shared his moving story of arriving in Palermo at 17 years old and pursuing his studies at the University of Palermo. The meeting aimed to promote dialogue and understanding among the students about the motivations behind migration. The project was organized by Marilena Mazziotta, who emphasized the importance of helping children understand the difficulties faced by migrants and fostering empathy and reflection.
