The Paternò Castello family has a noble history, starting with Ignazio, a patron, archaeologist, and writer, who began archaeological excavations in the city, uncovering the amphitheater and thermal baths, and creating a Museum of Antiquities with a remarkable numismatic collection. The family’s grandeur is evident in Palazzo Biscari, which is now owned by their cousins. Roberto Paternò Castello was born in 1945 to Ignazio and noblewoman Nina Nicolaci di Villadorata. He lived in the family palace on Via Etnea and was an exy Olive D’Aragona brand, Roberto dedicated his attention to his olive oil production and received several awards for it. He was married to Elena Sortino and has three children: Ricciarda, Ignazio, and Corrado. For many years, his partner in life was Rosanna Romeo.
