Andrea Cardinale, a 22ted his guilt in the Teesside Crown Court and was given an indefinite hospital order. The judge described his actions as a manifestation of his paranoid schizophrenia, supported by his behavior and internet searches. Cardinale had armed himself with a bat and knife and attacked Nino Calabrò and Francesca Di Dio in their apartment in Thornaby, before attempting but failing to set the apartment on fire.
