In Sicily, wildfires continue to ravage the region due to temperatures above 30 degrees and strong scirocco winds. Today, there have been 22 wildfires, with the province of Catania being the most affected, experiencing 7 fires. Palermo had four fires, while Caltanissetta, Enna, Messina, Agrigento, and Trapani provinces had three, two, and one fire respectively. The scirocco winds have made firefighting efforts even more challenging. The fires have spread to various locations, including Linguaglossa, Bronte, Regalna, Randazzo, and Vizzini in Catania province, Caccamo, Campofelice di Fitalia, Monte Pellegrino, and Polizzi Generosa in Palermo province, Aidone, Pietraperzia, and Centuripe in Enna province, Mazzarino and Mussomeli in Caltanissetta province, Aragona and Santi Stefano Quisquina in Agrigento province, Caronia, Graniti, and Motta d’Affermo in Messina province, and Gibellina in Trapani province. The wildfires have required the efforts of aerial units, firefighters, and civil protection teams throughout the day.
