Dreamaturgy Zone: D.ey of Catania, is in its final week. This initiative promotes the search for advanced forms of democratic participation through the creative use of digital technologies and performing arts. It involves the neighborhoods of Librino, Antico Corso, and Tondicello della Plaja and will conclude on Sunday, October 1st. The first part of the project included three workshops, while the second part features four theatrical performances starting from Tuesday, September 26th.

One of the performances is called “Il Labirinto” (The Labyrinth) by Compagnia Teatro dell’Argine, which is an innovative, immersive, and itinerant show that combines theater, cinema, virtual reality, and gaming. It tells fourteen forgotten stories of adolescence through visual and audio experiences. The audience wears a special device that immerses them in a realistic virtual scenario where they can explore different places and interact with various elements.

Another show, “SEPHIROT®: Marino” by Compagnia Chrones, offers interactive performances where the audience and performers change the course of the story in realy, sexual orientation, and gender transition. It utilizes a software system developed in collaboration with the University of Turin to monitor audience interaction with the narrative.

The program also includes “Speakers’ Corners,” a flash mob organized by Compagnia Teatro dell’Argine, where young participants invade the city to share their dreams and desires for their neighborhood, Librino. They will express their thoughts through collective actions, monologues, stories, and games, with the aim of inspiring concrete acts of change.

Finally, “Tifeo. Il Tradimento dell’orecchio” by Compagnia Retablo tells the story of an old character named Tifeo who once caused havoc, but now his revolutionary spirit has been suppressed by a hypnotic cure. The show explores themes of power, revolt, and the manipulation of individuals by those in authority.

The final performance will take place on Sunday, October 1st in Via del Principe, involving an introspective journey of a defeated soldier’s mind.

Overall, “Dreamaturgy Zone: D.e-Mo 2023” offers a unique blend of technology, art, and democratic participation, engaging audiences in immersive experiences and thought-provoking narratives.
