Deterioramento dell’Ecosistema Urbano ad Agrigento: Firetto analizza il dramma.

Calogero Firetto, former mayor and current opposition councilor of Agrigento, expresses his concerns about the current situation of the city, reflecting on the recent findings of the Urban Ecosystem. In an interview, Firetto states: “Now the rankings on the Urban Ecosystem, a survey conducted in collaboration with Ambiente Italia and Il Sole24Ore, certify the downward trend, examining the ‘green’ performance of 105 provincial capital cities.”

“Well, Agrigento drops 14 positions in a year, maybe it had never happened before. We know in what aspects Agrigento worsens: air, water, waste, mobility, and environment. Last year, the city of Temples was in 58th place, while now it occupies the 72nd position.”

“While the northern cities improve because they focus on the future and a better quality of life, Agrigento is steered decisively toward the last century. We had gained positions because an environmental sustainability policy had finally been implemented, projecting us towards a better future.”

“Instead, we witness the definite failure of this administration, which has abolished pedestrian areas, worsened the quality of waste separation, increased illegal dumps, neglected the urban environment, failed on bike sharing (which we strongly supported and brought to funding), and deliberately aborted sustainability policies, to the detriment of peripheral neighborhoods, such as energy efficiency in Villaseta, to name an example.”

“The guidelines of the Urban Center, written and agreed upon by professional orders, trade unions, employers’ associations, have been ignored to pursue goals of a sharp decline.”
