Poliziotti a processo per traffico droga a Siracusa

Rosario Christian Salemi and Giuseppe Iacono, two police officers from the Police Headquarters of Syracuse, have been indicted for drug trafficking. The prosecutor’s request for the trial was granted, which will take place with an ordinary procedure. The defendants’ lawyers had previously requested a conditional shortened trial, but it was rejected. Other individuals involved in the case include former Bronx boss Francesco Capodieci, who is now a collaborator of justice, and Giancarlo De Benedictis and Riccardo Di Falco, who are accused of corrupting the two police officers. Vincenzo Santonastaso and Vincenza Farieri are also on trial for drug offenses. The first hearing is scheduled for November 21 and will take place at the Syracuse courthouse. According to prosecutors, Salemi and Iacono had been involved in drug trafficking for about 10 years, selling drugs that had been seized during police operations. The investigation relied heavily on the testimonies of collaborators of justice, including Capodieci. The police officers allegedly tried to convince Capodieci, through his family, to collaborate with them for the management of his cooperation with justice. Other collaborators, such as Massimiliano Mandragona, have also provided statements corroborating the allegations against Salemi.
