In Sicily, the startup scene has been growing steadily over the past decade. While
Catania has a more consolidated tradition of innovation and startups, Palermo still feels the impact of Mosaicoon, a prominent startup that garnered attention throughout Italy before its recent failure. Ugo Parodi Giusino, the founder of Mosaicoon, has now launched Magnisi Studio, a physical space in Palermo designed to foster growth and networking among creative professionals. With the rise of remote work, many Palermo residents who had been working outside the city are now returning, and Magnisi Studio aims to capitalize on this trend. The goal is to make Palermo not only a tourist destination but also a hub for work and entrepreneurship. Alongside Magnisi Studio, the Chamber of Commerce and a multinational consulting company have also set up shop in the city center. The influence of Mosaicoon can also be seen in the birth of eight new startups, with two of them still active and supported by Magnisi Venture, the venture studio led by Parodi Giusino. One of these startups, Edgemony, has created Product Heroes, a company focused on training product managers. Product Heroes is organizing a conference in Milan on October 6th and 7th dedicated to this role, which is responsible for the strategy and development of a product throughout its lifecycle. The conference will feature notable speakers such as Joe Zadeh, coh averages ranging from £46,000 in the UK to €60,000 in Germany and around €43,000 in Milan. However, salaries in North America are significantly higher, with Montreal averaging at $84,000 and San Francisco reaching $138,000. According to Marco Imperato, founder of Product Heroes, there is an evolving landscape where product managers will play a key role in guiding the digital transformation of companies. The Product Heroes Conference serves as an opportunity for professionals to share experiences and ideas in a field that still lacks sufficient training opportunities.
