A group of six tourists were stranded on the island of Lipari in the Aeolian Islands due to rough seas. They contacted the ship owner Angelo Mollica, who bravely navigated through the large waves to reach the island of Panarea. However, due to the strong surf at the San Pietro port, they had to transfer to a rubber boat to reach the beach. Meanwhile, ferry services have resumed from Milazzo to Vulcano, Lipari, and Salina. However, the ferry “Isola di Stromboli” also experienced mechanical issues and was delayed by two hours. This comes after the announcement of 71 layoffs of Siremar sailors. The prosecutor of Caronte&Tourist Isole Minori has called for a meeting with union representatives and government officials to discuss the reduction of personnel. The meeting will take place at the company’s Messina headquarters. Siremar will continue to operate the ferry services until September 30th.
