Violence erupts in Palermo: man stabbed after confronting bike thieves in Partanna Mondello
Violence in Palermo resurfaced over the weekend, with a 32-year-old man being stabbed in the neighborhood of Partanna Mondello after discovering a group of young boys about to steal his bike. Yesterday afternoon (as Virgilio Fagone writes in the article in today’s edition of Giornale di Sicilia), G.G. encountered the thieves on via Alete and intervened in an attempt to chase them away, but in response, he was met with aggression and stabbed in the left shoulder and abdomen. Injured, he was taken to the emergency room at Villa Sofia by a medical car, which, as seen in the image we publish above, reached the scene on its own. Thankfully, he is not in critical condition, but he had a close call due to the fury of the gang. The police have been informed of the incident and are working to identify the group and reconstruct the events in detail.
Councilor Ottavio Zacco condemns the incident
This incident was condemned by city councilor Ottavio Zacco, who expressed “sympathy for the family of the injured, who fortunately is not in critical condition. Now more than ever, we need to increase control over the territory and reopen educational centers. Just to clarify, there are no bars or nightlife in the street where this talented young man was attacked. For many, life is no longer valued.” Indeed, as evidenced by the tragic cases of recent weeks and the long list of youth violence.
