“Passion Galliano” is the title of a recital by French musician Richard Galliano, who has been a prominent figure in the history of the accordion for fifty years. The recital takes the audience on a musical journey through the most significant moments of his career, including his collaborations with Argentine artist Astor Piazzolla and jazz greats, as well as performances of classical pieces. Galliano aims to give proper recognition to the accordion, which is often unfairly regarded as the “poor man’s piano,” stating that his accordion is like a “Steinway with straps.” The concert, which showcases the highlights of his artistic journey, will be held at the Teatro Sangiorgi in
Catania as part of the 48th Concert Season of the Associazione Musicale Etnea. Galliano, an eclectic artist and composer with a love for both classical and jazz music, will present a diverse repertoire, including his original compositions and pieces that have shaped his artistic development through collaborations with influential musicians such as Joss Baselli, André Astier, Claude Nougaro, Serge Reggiani, Barbara, Chet Baker, Charlie Haden, Ron Carter, and Michel Portal.
