Alb.Foresta, catanese al concorso internazionale di liuteria: far conoscere la nostra terra

Alberto Foresta, a young man from San Giovanni La Punta, near Catania, is participating in an international luthier competition in Sicily. He is one of only three Italians among the seventy participants, most of whom are Asians. Foresta has been involved in the world of music for five years, working as a phone shop employee, guitarist, and sound engineer before finding his passion for luthiery. He seeks to establish a balance in his life and enjoys traveling to deliver his instruments and meet fellow craftsmen. Foresta aims to be present in cities with orchestras or music schools, going against the trend of closed and disconnected luthiers in Catania. He also highlights the importance of preserving and sharing traditions in Sicilian luthiery, unlike the secretive approach seen locally. Foresta hopes to put Catania on the map through his participation in the competition and plans to increase his international contacts while promoting the work of Sicilian luthiers. His ultimate goal is to create a small brand that produces instruments in Catania for global use. Participating in these competitions is more a matter of prestige and recognition than winning prizes.
