Seventeen pupils of the first and second grades of middle school of the XIV comprehensive institute "Karol Wojtyla" were city councilors and councilors for one day. They are the participants in the "Active Citizens" project of the National Operational Plan "Skills and learning environments", and yesterday afternoon they met with the mayor, Francesco Italia, according to the rules of the city meeting in a simulated session (with lots of proposals, amendments and final vote) which was held in the council chamber of Palazzo Vermexio named after Elio Vittorini. The school group was accompanied by teachers Alessandra Aliffi, Cristina Giuliana and Simona Giudice, curators of the project; with the mayor, the general secretary, Danila Costa, and Giuseppe Prestifilippo from the Cabinet Office participated. The meeting had two moments: a theoretical one, in which the organization and functioning of a municipal council were explained; and a practical one, during which the small municipal councilors, divided into majority and opposition, and the councilors competed with the mayor of Italy on two projects - one on welcoming foreigners and one for the free practice of outdoor sports - which were then amended and put to the vote. The meeting, at the end of which the students were free to ask the mayor questions and propose ideas, also offered the opportunity to explain the rudiments of the administrative machinery and to illustrate some municipal projects in progress. Participating in the "Active Citizens" project are: Domenico Agus, Mattia Calvo, Kevin Vincenzo Carapella, Lorenzo Cicitta, Roberto Cultrera, Davide Di Dio, Luigi Di Mari, Chiara Frescura, Gabriele Galea, Graziano Genovesi, Gianluca Genuardi, Gabriele Iacono, Nicolò Iacono , Mattia Malandrino, Dario Petrona Baviera Conca, Ginevra Porchia and Andrea Zirone.
