This was stated by the mayor of Castellammare del Golfo Nicolò Rizzo on the demolition works of the San Bartolomeo bridge and the subsequent construction of the provisional crossing: the first span on the former state road 187 of the San Bartolomeo bridge, on the homonymous river, on the border between Castellammare del Golfo and Alcamo, it collapsed in the night between 10 and 11 December 2021 after continuous floods of the river and days of incessant rain. Anas has been identified as the implementing body through a memorandum of understanding requested by the Sicilian Region and the administration of Castellammare del Golfo which has already sent to the state body the required planning compliance opinion for the construction of a provisional crossing on the river. San Bartolomeo, near the collapsed bridge of the same name, at Km 43 + 708 of the former state road 187. The Sicilian Region has allocated 1.2 million euros which are added to the 800 thousand euros loan from Anas for the ongoing demolition and the making of the passage. After the provisional crossing underway, Anas is preparing the design of the definitive bridge which includes two spans, with a larger one which allows the pile not to be positioned in the riverbed. The bridge under demolition, on the other hand, had a total length of approximately 116 meters and consisted of 3 spans, with 2 abutments and 2 piers, partly in the riverbed.
