Vent people, including the former president of the regional council and of the Agrigento water authority, Eugenio D’Orsi, are facing trial for allegedly stealing water through an illegal connection to the municipal water supply in Palma di Montechiaro. The investigation, which began in 2015, resulted in over 90 people being named as suspects, with 20 now being brought to trial. The charges include aggravated theft for tampering with the water supply without payment. The defense lawyers have opted for a trial, but the case could be dismissed due to the statute of limitations. The first hearing is scheduled for December 20th.
